From 2nd to 5th, November, I was in Siem Reap joining Blog Fest Asia 2012, an annual meeting of bloggers and information technicians from Asia. It is a wonderful time, going to my dream place, meeting some well-known people, and be a part of a big event.
During the time there, I got to know some people who are speaker, volunteer OC and merly participant like me. Some are known only on Facebook and some was not known yet until we meeet.
The first one I met is our fellow blogger Sophat Cam សុផាត កាម who rarely updates his blog 🙂 and now becomes a famous singer online.
The second person I met is someone from blogspot.com 🙂 She is well-know for her work as a cartoonist and has alraeady appeared twice on the Post. You can find her here @Cambodian Daughter – Sovathary Bon or view her work @Camtoonista. FYI, her name is Bon Sovathary.
Another person I befriended there is one of the Admins of Khmer Wikipedia, Oum Vantharith, who flies all the way from Seoul to speak about Wikimedia Common in the event. We also shared the same room.
Talking about Wikipedia, it is a great source for me. Most biographies of the people in this blog are taken from Wikipedia, and it likes I am indirectly working for Khmer Wikipedia 🙂
During the closing ceremony on the 5th, I also met Prof. Chen Chanratana, founder of Kerdomnel Khmer foundation, for the first time, and I expect to meet him again this 10th, November on a workshop about Khmer which is held at Zaman University.
Besides that, I also met some students from DMC, Department of Media and Communication, who are my friends on Facebook. They are really good in writing and reporting, and surely they are the role model for a better Freedom of Express in Cambodia for the near future.
That is when a Wikipedian, a photographer/reseacher, a cartoonist and a web designer collide!
A big thank for the organizers especially to Miss. Keo Kounila for her invitation and big effort in making the event going smoothly. That was a very nice reception from the OCs, the half-day heritage tour and buffet dinner at FFC.
